Careers | 3rd October 2018
We caught up with Dan, one of our Team Leaders here at orca.
I’m responsible for managing a team of PA’s. This can be anything from coaching, one to ones and being there when they need someone to talk to. My main functions are motivating my team, planning and organising daily routines and ensuring targets and objectives are met.
I started in February 2016 as a PA and worked my way up into a management position in 2018.
Since I joined orca, I have seen the business flourish from a small family run office, to a corporate business, but it has not lost that family feel. I’ve also seen the amount of PA’s multiply and different sectors and services develop throughout the business.
I started my journey with orca back in 2016 as a PA with very limited experience in dealing with customers over the phone. I quickly gained confidence and threw myself into training to build my skill set to progress within the company. I am now a Team Leader and plan to carry on growing along with the business.
My standout moment was transitioning from PA to Team Leader. Taking on and being trusted with the extra responsibility was definitely a highlight of not only my time at orca, but my career as a whole.
The atmosphere is great! Everyone gets on like one big family and no matter how many colleagues we add to the company, everyone interacts with each other and forms strong bonds – not only in their teams, but interdepartmental relationships as well.
Keeping my team motivated on a daily basis excites me, using creativity to keep morale high and to make sure everyone is happy and providing a great service to our clients.
We all enjoy dressing up in silly ways! Any excuse for a fancy dress day and we go all out! Whether it be onesie days, Halloween or just general costume days.
Reliability Team Work Positivity
We are the nicest, bubbliest, funniest people you’ll ever meet. Everyone is approachable and helpful, so you will always feel comfortable.
I chose to pursue a career rather than continuing into further education. After working in retail for a few years, orca gave me the opportunity to break into a different industry and forward my career into management level.
I have established strong friendships both with current and past colleagues. We have regular team bonding activities that help everyone get to know each other outside and inside of work.
Working in a positive working environment is a big factor in job satisfaction. Being part of management and helping bring the positivity into the office is one of the most enjoyable parts of my working day. Progressing my career and developing new skills daily has also boosted my self esteem, both in work and in my personal life.
