The vast majority of veterinary practices provide an out of hours and emergency service, whether that be for small animal or farm animal clients.

At orca we understand the close relationships vets have with their clients, especially farmers, and how continuity of service and responsiveness are critical to those relationships. Medical situations can develop suddenly, for example incidences of calving, where a farmer client will need the attendance of a vet urgently. We recognise these urgent requests and situations and will respond with the urgency that our clients expect. Equally we deal just as professionally with a client wishing to book a pet in for a routine check up.

Previously we were concerned that we may be missing important phone calls because on busy days our phones were not being answered as quickly as we would like. We recently did a trial with orca (Call Miss Jones) and decided that we would like to continue using their service. The call is answered by the company and then they email the practice  and then we call the client back as soon as we can. Any urgent calls are immediately referred back to the practice. It works well and clients are happy that they are talking to a person rather than just being stuck in a queue or listening to a message.

I attended the marketing meeting where we discussed online booking and the impact missed calls has on practices.
